About Nick

I am a nationally recognised expert in Lean and improvement science. Since graduating from the world renowned Lean Enterprise Research Centre at the University of Cardiff, I have led on some of the most successful improvement programmes the NHS has ever seen. Like Liz, I believe in the role that great public services play in supporting and caring for people when they are at their most vulnerable.

Not only do I have extensive knowledge and experience of the practical application of these methods, I am also adept at translating and communicating them in a way that makes them accessible for health and social care organisations. In short, we talk the language of our clients, not of our science.

What our clients say about Nick

Nick is a super guy, with infectious enthusiasm, who can guarantee to get things moving. Highly recommended.

The best training course I have ever been on (following a Lean Masterclass delivered by Nick).

I appreciated his engineering perspective as it made challenges feel less complex and overwhelming

Nick listened to us and very quickly assimilated information into an understanding our different environment and business drivers. Nick’s personal investment in the work was obvious and his commitment and enthusiasm was infectious.

(Nick has) a professional manner combined with a disciplined friendliness. He has obvious skills and knowledge of other technical disciplines which provided a sound framework for his delivery and engagement.

Nick worked with me in setting up a new collaborative. Working with senior and frontline clinicians, managers and citizens, teaching them methodologies and coaching the cross-organisational teams as they worked on putting improved services into practice. He was part of the educational team prototyping a new course that brought all the lessons from high-performing health systems and adapted and translated them into one programme for the NHS. He was responsive to feedback and peer review and he adapted the approach to learning and change to the team as we tested the new material. Nick also delivered a simulation and content to support a short course on Flow and Quality. Nick is highly professional in his relationships with clients, citizens, participants and co-faculty.
